Senior Social Media Strategist

As a Senior Social Media Strategist, you will use your experience connecting brands with customers on social media to manage clients and projects ranging from boating and grooming to travel and leisure. You will be responsible for developing strategies and plans, working closely with support staff and other marketing departments within the agency to ensure campaigns are strategically aligned, on time and on budget.


You will work with analytics tools and manage the development of metrics, tracking and activity reports. Project work may include integrated campaigns, content calendars, community management, live events, contests, influencer partnerships, social creative and paid social.

  • Develop strategic plans and presentations with input from social supervisor/director
  • Incorporate new trends and tools into client projects and plans
  • Develop scopes with input from social supervisor/director 
  • Establish the strategies for social campaigns with limited input from social supervisor/director
  • Oversee campaign progress and results to ensure quality and on-time delivery
  • Oversee the development of written and designed content, reviewing and editing work developed by support staff; final review by supervisor/director
  • Oversee the creative direction for social content, with guidance from social supervisor/director
  • Lead strategic discussions with clients with support from social supervisor/director
  • Manage day-to-day client contact, plugging in as necessary to foster and maintain effective communications and project management  
  • Oversee community management activities for clients, including managing the team, addressing issues and providing resolution recommendations
  • Review and edit client reports created by social strategist and share with the client
  • Oversee job creation, billing and reconciling through HY’s job management system 
  • Oversee vendor review and selection process and work with social strategist to negotiate rates 
  • Manage support staff, including overall workload and projects  
  • Help manage recruitment efforts for support staff positions within the social department
  • Participate in performance reviews for support staff  
  • Other duties as assigned

  • BA/BS degree required plus 5-7 years of relevant social media experience (agency experience is a plus)
  • Experience managing multiple projects and people
  • Ability to develop and present social media plans and presentations
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and budgets 
  • Experience running and managing paid social media campaigns on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Extremely detail oriented and organized
  • Knowledgeable on social media listening, measurement, analytics and reporting
  • A powerful writer with an understanding of social media best practices and content development
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to think, plan and execute resourcefully across multiple tasks
  • Well-spoken, well organized, detail-oriented and can operate with minimal supervision
  • Understanding of the paid, owned, and earned media space as it relates to social media execution
