Social Media Designer

Hoffman York is searching for a full-time Social Media Designer to join our fun, creative and fast-paced agency located in the historic Third Ward. This person will develop high-velocity social and earned media creative for our agency and clients. Assignments range from designing social ads, shareable graphics, app pages, contests, tiles, infographics, GIFs, cinemagraphs, 360 videos and presentations to assisting in the design of websites, blogs, mobile apps, and producing and editing short-form videos and slideshows. 


The Social Media Designer will report to the Director of Social Media.

The Social Media Designer will produce a wide range of creative content for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest and LinkedIn, as well as for blogs, apps and more. For integrated programs, this person may also play a role in the design of campaign landing pages, online content hubs, web content and HTML emails. On any given day this person might:

  • Design and develop social and earned media content
  • Manage a social digital library
  • Assist in ideation and development of social media content calendars
  • Review and meet on creative briefs and brand strategies
  • Produce and edit short videos and add after-effects animations
  • Photoshop and resize images for various social platforms  
  • Research, identify and work with outside vendors and software providers
  • Design agency new business presentations using Keynote and Powerpoint
  • Collaborate with social, earned and paid media as well as creative leaders, strategists, developers, client service, and project managers to design achievable concepts and participate in quality control processes to ensure optimal results
  • Investigate and share new trends, tools, and techniques in the field of social and digital design
  • Update and maintain workflows for creating, editing, publishing, and retiring social media content

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus 1+ years social media design experience (agency experience a plus)
  • Ability to deliver high-velocity, high-impact social and digital content in fast-paced environment 
  • Understanding of social media design best practices, principles and usability with a passion for keeping up with digital, social and earned media design trends
  • Understanding of paid social and how it impacts creative deliverability
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Working knowledge of social media and digital design programs and software (e.g. Mac, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro, After Effects, InDesign, Flixel, Final Cut, etc.)
  • Photography/video production and editing experience
